Oil Discharge Facility
We at Sonils are proud to give Luanda’s permanent marine offshore fuel discharge facility with global competency that abets smooth operations
24 hours a day. 365 days.
This Oil Discharge facility inaugurated by Eng. José Eduardo dos Santos, President of the Republic of Angola on 12 June 2008 has been one of the most challenging experiences for all of us at Sonils.
Right from engineering, mobilization, construction to the testing &
commissioning of the project; it all seemed ceaseless then, but it brought
us great joy to deliver the project in a span of one year & see Angola move
one more step towards a global economy.
The piping network in its entirety was the most intricate part of the project. Every detail has been meticulously planned and has undergone stringent checks before execution.
Three distinct pipelines have been dedicated for the discharge of Diesel, Petrol and Aviation Fuel at the same time.
A 600 meter long pipe bundle was fabricated on land which included four 8” pipelines for products and two other pipes for utilities. This pipe bundle has been stretched right up to the super concrete structure.
Additionally a fire fighting piping network has been installed that ends with fire fighting towers together with related motorized valves.
Through every step of the project we have ensured usage of impeccable quality products and technology to give Angola a state-of-the-art facility that will make every citizen of Angola proud.
Right from gas detection systems to fire fighting pumping systems with a flow rate of 250m3 per hour each; to a fire fighting piping network with motorized valves and oil spill control facilities all of them have been fitted with precautionary units to curb hazards.
A submarine fibre optic cable has been installed for communications. A Telephone Communication System and an alternative High frequency wireless Communication system will allow uninterrupted voice transmission between the Oil berth and SONANGOL Base.
There’s also a control system based on the programmable logic controller that has been installed at the control room, in addition to the computerized operation systems display that is supported with a redundancy system-Push buttons panel.
That’s not all, CCTV systems have been mounted at strategic locations to enable monitoring of all movements. And this data will be transmitted at the Sonils
Base as well for closer scrutiny.
This is just our beginning towards a future full of energy. With
this discharge facility, we not only intend to ease the congestion at the
port of Luanda but hope that this facility will ceaselessly meet the needs
of the growing oil industry.
We earnestly wish to give the people of Angola not just comfort on the
roads but heart-filled joy and a life they have envisaged for many years. As
with all optimism we envisage Angola as a land with a strong resolute to
keep pace with the global economies of the world.
